Over the weekend, I traveled to San Antonio to complete my training in Ashiatsu Deepfeet Bar Therapy which is a combination of ancient wisdom and western or modern knowledge of how the body works and heals.
We use our feet to DEEPLY compress and massage the tissues with the aid of gravity, grace, and SKILL-
We also focus on creating a "push-pull-pumping" effect on the tissues around the inter-vertebral disc space (around the spine) which can have a profound positive effect on the nervous system and the general health of the spine.
The training was incredibly intense- mentally and physically and I am in recuperation mode today.
I can't wait to get some practice time in and add my new knowledge to my current Ashiatsu sessions- Let me just say, you are in for a REAL treat! If you like deep tissue massage or are an athlete in need of rest, recovery, & repair of muscle tissue, then this is for you! It is most likely the deepest deep tissue you can possibly get with out the pain of elbows or knuckles digging in.
If you're an MT looking to learn this type of work, I highly recommend taking Jeni's classes- She's incredibly knowledgeable and is one of the best instructors I've ever had the pleasure to study under.
Check out Ruthie Hardee's Site She's the founder of this work and has created some thing really special.
If you're looking to get Ashiatsu, check out this listing of AOBT grads. You can look up highly trained, elite therapists easily and make your appointments!
Now its time to rest!
